ABOUT

About NANA WATANABE

NANA WATANABE is a unique textile jewelry brand from Japan, inspired by an imaginary paradise. By capturing the vibrant colors and shapes of nature, and skillfully combining embroidered textiles with three-dimensional forms, we create a distinctive worldview.

Our jewelry has a remarkable presence yet is surprisingly lightweight, making it comfortable to wear in any daily situation. We are committed to ethical fashion and actively use recycled polyester to provide environmentally friendly pieces. Each piece is not just wearable art but aims for sustainable luxury.

This innovative design is highly regarded not just in Japan but internationally, earning widespread acclaim. NANA WATANABE continues to enhance the charm and individuality of its wearers by providing artistic and environmentally considerate jewelry. Through our jewelry, we strive to transform every day into something extraordinary.

Innovative Production Process

The design process at NANA WATANABE is derived from her experience as a fashion designer. It begins with manually crafting paper patterns, similar to papercraft, where patterns are added and materials are selected.

Subsequently, in a factory in Aichi Prefecture, Japan, the pieces undergo programming and delicate embroidery, and each component is meticulously cut. The assembly process involves sewing by hand, using adhesives, and employing soldering tools to meticulously finish each detail, resulting in three-dimensional jewelry.

By applying techniques from garment production to jewelry making, we achieve an added level of originality in our creations.

Our jewelry extensively utilizes "&+" recycled polyester, produced by Toray Industries in Japan, which is made from recycled plastic bottles. Currently, about half of our products are made with this recycled material, and our goal is to use recycled materials in all our products in the future.

Additionally, our decision not to use precious gems and metals is part of our ethical commitment. This approach not only reduces environmental impact but also pursues ethical values, providing sustainable beauty for both everyday use and special occasions.

This strategy is designed to deliver a luxurious yet environmentally friendly lifestyle.

Designer | Nana Watanabe

Born in 1983, currently based in Fujisawa, Kanagawa, Japan.

After working as a fashion and textile designer for renowned Japanese brands including the ISSEY MIYAKE collection team, Nana Watanabe launched her own accessory brand “ARRO” in March 2017, incorporating machine embroidery techniques. In November 2024, the brand was renamed to reflect her own name: “NANA WATANABE.”

Raised in the lush natural landscapes of Japan, Nana draws endless inspiration from nature, which serves as the foundation of her imagination. Her creative drive stems from a desire to evoke emotional and instinctive reactions—much like the natural world—beyond logic or reason.

In her student years, she studied not only fashion but also film and contemporary art, which continue to influence her artistic perspective. Her designs explore the boundary between art and fashion, offering fresh perspectives and consistently inspiring the senses.

This philosophy is clearly reflected in her jewelry. Each piece is crafted with the belief that capturing the beauty of nature and wearing it can bring extraordinary moments into everyday life. The creative process is a dialogue with nature—one that aims to offer the wearer a renewed sense of freedom and joy.
